International speaker, Dr Penny Pullan, will be delivering this talk in person.

Penny is well known in the BA community worldwide. Her books include ‘Business Analysis and Leadership: Influencing change’ co-edited with James Archer, and her latest one, ‘Virtual Leadership: Practical strategies for getting the best out of virtual work and virtual teams’.

Talk Synopsis:
How can business analysts present ourselves authentically as leaders on our projects? How can we show up wholeheartedly for meetings so that our stakeholders leave them with a smile, even conference calls? (yes really!) How can we form strong connections and communicate deeply with people? In our fast-paced world where multitasking is the norm, how do we engage people when they are likely to be distracted and pulled away by everything else happening?

As business analysts, we need to inspire and facilitate people as we work together towards our shared vision of the future, delivering value at every stage. That’s leadership.

But are we leaders? We probably don’t feel like leaders compared to those running large enterprises. Is anyone getting ready to anoint business analysts as leaders in your organisations? No? So, we'll have to take that step ourselves.

This session will consider what leadership means for business analysts and how we can put it into practice, both face-to-face and virtually.
