RailsBridge Rocketeer Roundup!

Hey there, Rails Rocketeers! There's a new meetup series in town, and that's our monthly RailsBridge Rocketeer Roundup. This is our first roundup, and we're incredibly excited to share it with you!

At this roundup we will work on projects, teach each other, and socialize. We'll kick off with lightning talks by our members followed by good ol’ fashioned coding time. We'll provide snacks and drinks to keep your brain fueled!

WHO CAN COME:

RailsBridge Rocketeer Roundups are open to people of all genders! While our workshops and Minis are for women and their guests, the Roundups are open to anyone who is interested. Please keep in mind that this should still be a safe space for women, so remember to be kind and supportive and follow our code of conduct (http://bridgefoundry.org/code-of-conduct/).

ALL levels of experience are welcome! From total newbies to Rails masters. If you're a pro, we'd love you to come help beginners!

CODING TIME:

You’ll be able to work on your own projects or pair up with the people around you to tackle something together. If you don’t have something you’re working on, we’ll help you find a project or coding challenge that’s right for you. If you want to pair up and code with someone else, we’ll find you a partner. If you’re stuck on something, we can give you advice or help you find someone to work through it with you.

LIGHTNING TALKS:

A lightning talk is simply a short talk (5-10 minutes), as formal or informal as you’d like. If you'd like to give a lightning talk at the Roundup, sign up in the comments! The first 3 people to volunteer will get slots.

What do you talk about? Talks related to programming are great! But you can also give a talk on anything else interesting you’d like to share with the group. We want to provide a supportive environment where you can practice your public speaking skills and share whatever knowledge you have! Is there a Ruby trick you’ve learned since going to one of our workshops? Do you want to show the world how to make a fun bash prompt? Do you have a technique for how to cope when you’ve got a bug in your code that you just can’t get out? Want to teach us how to tie a really good knot? Whatever you want to share, we’re open to it!
