Dear Dance Enthusiasts,
I write to invite you to join the relatively new Basically Ballroom Triangle Yahoo Groups list. Cate Stewart and I have worked to establish this group. It currently has about 35 members, and we are ready to build on it and make it more active. The group is for information that is primarily ballroom related. While it can be used to help promote ballroom dance events, classes, etc. for the dance community in Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and nearby locales, we are not trying to duplicate what Meetup does. Our hope is that it will become a place that ballroom dancers exchange information about dance related topics whether or not a meetup is set for a particular event. Meetup has a wonderful calendar, and Jack Wolf does a great job of helping get the word out about various events (as do many other people, to be sure, who also deserve credit for their contributions to making the social dance scene here in the Triangle lively and vibrant). Since Jack has generously advised me and Cate as we established this Yahoo group, I wanted to send a shout out to him in particular. But many thanks as well to all who contribute resources and time to keeping the dancing going!
For now, examples of appropriate events and topics for this group include but are not limited to the following. We may reconsider as time goes on or as members have new ideas for the group.
*Dancers seeking practice partners
*Group members seeking advice on or wishing to sell/swap shoes and attire
*Group members seeking to carpool to events or letting others know what events they are attending
