Re: [The-Raleigh-Durham-Backyard-Poultry-Meetup-Group] Survey: US public still unprepared for catastrophe

Hello all,
I realize that folks can be quickly critical, but that's part of our new digital age. I'm not condoning such comments, but I don't think there as serious as John states. I've seen Deborah's posts before on the Permaculture group, but I believe she's an admin on that group. I do believe that she posts a lot, but I exercise the delete button when I see them. OPTION 1. In the permaculture group, I had to go into meetup.com options and turn off emails. OPTION 2. A better option is to email the ADMIN a private email outside the thread and have them take care of it. OPTION 3. If the admin condones the posting and won't do anything, you can use option 2, or drop out of the group. OPTION 4. Beating it to death in a continually longer and longer thread is only perpetuating the problem, and I concede that I did reply to the thread myself, so I am as guilty, but wanted folks on copy to see it.

Personally, I'd prefer that the group email be turned off, and force the group to communicate threads of discussion via the discussion groups where there are more options for handling email than the main group email. I only read posts online or do a daily digest for ones I want to follow. Most listservs I've been on are pretty strict about such a group list not being abused and using other subscription options to differentiate subjects and only use the main email list for administrative and special group announcements.

Seriously?

Jerry, this is high school venom coming from you.....

Obviously this person has a different outlook than most of us. Her purpose for backyard poultry is simply different. A simple correction would be appropriate (such as from Annette). However a few of the responses I red were simply derogatory, intolerant. outright mean in a way I have not seen since high school.

I refer to Jess, Bill, and especially Jerry. Shame on you people.

Now I realize that most of us members are not mean and childish and I have benefited from the discussions but these few sour apples have sullied this group.

To most of you I thank you for interesting and well meaning discussion - I'll be signing off now, this group make me uncomfortable because of just a few people...

Cheers,
