River Rafting the Royal Gorge

White Water Excitement

Join Random Acts of Adventure for the The best Colorado half day whitewater rafting trip on the Arkansas River combined with the some of the most spectacular scenery in Colorado. I will be making reservations in groups of 6. So reserve early and get a guaranteed spot for this trip!

The world famous white water of the Royal Gorge is Colorado’s premier river rafting location. Experience the amazing scenery of the Royal Gorge and the sheer towering 1200' cliff walls that surround us as we raft below the worlds highest suspension bridge. Challenge the classic class III, IV rapids of Sunshine Falls, Sledgehammer & the Narrows to name a few. The Royal Gorge is suitable for first time rafters seeking an exciting challenge as well as experienced paddlers alike. Good physical condition is recommended at high water.  The minimum age for this trip is 14 years old.

Rafting check-in is at 1:00 p.m. so we will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. and carpooling.  Expect the rafting to last until 4:30 p.m. with a drive back home. We will be stopping for a meal on the way back.  In other words, this is an all day thing being back home between 6 - 7 p.m.

We have chosen Whitewater Adventure Outfitters as our rafting guides.

The cost for the trip is $72.50 which includes the rafting as well as organization and required access fees.  For a moderate additional fee you can rent wetsuites, spray jackets and river boots.  In order to reserve this trip, you must pay $72.50 to me no later than 14 days prior to the day of the trip.  For Maximum convenience, I have put in a paypal method through this meetup site.  If you prefer a different form of payment you may send me a message to arrange payment.

You may be concerned about paypal, or not have a paypal account. A paypal account is free to open and totally free to use. It is also safe and secure. Just follow the instructions when you RSVP for this activity. If you need help, or have questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

We will be carpooling to this event, so we will be meeting at the Lincoln Station Park and Ride on the top level.  Please be on time at 10:15 a.m. so that we can be at the rafting facilities for check-in.   If you prefer to meet us at the facility, please send me a message.

I have been asked about water levels and I called the guides and this was there answer:

Yes, this is a low river level year for Colorado, but the Arkansas river is further south and below more tributaries than Clearcreek. As a result, the water levels are higher. Also, the water level is being regulated at the Twin Lakes reservior and are expected to continue through the end of the season at the current levels. There are plenty of rapids on the river to include class III and IV.

Family event yes, however, the minimum age is 15 years old for this trip. There is some leway depending on water flow, but they will not allow 11 year olds at all due to the rating of the rapids we will be on. Also, yes, they do not distinguish prices between kids and adults.

I hope this doesn't cause too much distress, as I would love to have you come.

What are they projecting the flow rate to be by July? This years snow melt is minimal.
