Lunch and Ice Racing

Let's try this again! They set up the tracks at about 11AM, so let's get there first thing so we can get wristbands that let us race on the ice. Once you have a wristband, head over to the Mountainbuzz Cafe for lunch. You can risk it and get your wristband after lunch, but there's no guarantee they won't have their quota by then (if they do then you can't race).

Look for a large group of people who know each other once you get to the cafe. After we find our group and have lunch then we're going ice racing!
When Georgetown Lake freezes each winter you'll often find people driving around on it. If you have 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive then you can come play! It's not dangerous and you don't get anywhere near the other vehicle you're racing against. Here's what you need:
A valid driver's license 4WD or AWD $5.00 (somewhere around there, bring cash) Note that this isn't an actual race day, it's a Fun Day. That means that you can't officially win anything and there are no trophies. But that also means that the fees are much cheaper, you can race longer, and you can race against anyone. On true race days you can only race against someone in the same gender pool and with the same type of vehicle, but on Fun Days it's anything goes!
Check out the ice racing Web site (http://www.ourgangiceracing.com) for more information. We'll get to race until the sun starts going down, around 5PM. If you don't want to race you can come up and ride with someone instead -- watching and riding are both free.
Dress in layers because sometimes it can be pretty cold on the ice. Yaktrax (http://www.yaktrax.com) are also a great idea for walking around on the slippery stuff.
Random Contest
What's a Random Contest? Read About Us (https://www.meetup.com/Random-Nonsense/about/) for more information. The winner of this random contest will have the best hat. Believe me, you'll need a hat out there on the ice. What makes a hat the best? It might be the funniest, the largest, or the smallest. Just make it interesting! We'll vote at lunch, so you don't have to wear it all day.
