Backpack Buddies Club

In case you missed it 10 years ago the Daily Herald awarded the Backpack Buddies Club the Make a difference Day award for filling 31 backpacks with school supplies & distributing them to local Children in need. This year celebrates their 10th yr of giving & in honor of that they are trying to fill 1,000 backpacks on Aug 12th to distribute to lower income children in our area.They distribute backpacks now not once but FOUR (4) times a year to area centers & Twps. In the past they have supported WINGS, Home of the Sparrow, Elgin Crisis Center, Lazarus Houose & Schuamburg Twp. If you know of any centers in this area that can use backpacks this fall, please contact Cindy@dittmer.com. Meanwhile I will be collecting supplies & monetary donations ( checks made out to Backpack Buddies) by Aug 7th so they can have them in time for the Aug 12th date. I bought two(2) bags full from Walmart for $10.00. I know times are tough for everyone but they told me some kids will skip school the first day instead of coming without the supplies they need.
