The Random Acts of Kindness Club of Arlington Heights is once again adopting a family for the holidays through the annual Wheeling Township Adopt-A-Family program! Today we signed up to sponsor a local family in need, who without our help would not be able to afford holiday gifts for the children. We get their wish list in the coming days. This is something my children and I have been doing since we moved to Arlington Heights and it's been extra gratifying to be able to expand our efforts through Random Acts of Kindness Club members like you.

Will you help us adopt this family?

This is how it works: 1) Meet at Target on Rand Road at Thomas Street in Arlington Heights on Monday, December 5, at 7 pm sharp, at the photo desk just inside the entrance to the left. Look for me with my Random Acts of Kindness button on. 2) At that time the wish list will be divided up. Each person who participates should expect to spend between $20-50. 3) We will play like elves and do our shopping at Target until about 7:30 pm then meet promptly back at the entrance. 4) Then we will walk (or you can drive) across the parking lot with our purchases to our sponsor Jimmy John's also on Rand Road in Arlington Heights where we will be treated to a party tray of yummy gourmet sub sandwiches (drinks and other food available for purchase) while we wrap and tag our gifts for each member in our adoptive family. I will supply the gift wrapping supplies. 5) We will finish up at Jimmy John's around 8:00 pm at which point I will load the gifts in to my sleigh-car for delivery to Wheeling Township by the deadline the next day, and they will be given to one very grateful family before Christmas.

RSVP if you will meet at Target at 7:00 pm on the 5th to join us in the merriment of sharing and caring. If you cannot attend but wish to help, last year a few members mailed gift cards that were included in the presents. You can mail them to Random Acts of Kindness Club of Arlington Heights, 505 West Maude Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, and I will be sure to include them, but we need to have it all in hand by Monday, December 5. Gift cards to a grocery store, Target, Toys R Us, or anywhere, are appreciated, I'm sure.

Consider inviting your neighbors and co-workers to participate. A fun experience of sharing and caring for kids!

Happy holidays...

Debbie
