It was a good first event. I enjoyed talking with others about what they have done or would like to do with their Raspberry Pis.

Will anyone be livestreaming or video conferencing the event? I'd like to follow along from work.

    September 16, 2012

    • Alex S.

Hi Daniel. There will be no livestream set up for this event. We'll look into setting up livestreams for future events that involve speakers, demos, and presentations.

Just booted my first Pi! Headless and networked out of the box, connected to a macbook pro. Found these two links useful:

    See you tomorrow!

    well that was fast!

4 raspberry pi's with little mice are sold.

another comment on creating SD card - I was worried about expanding the volume to full size of the card. there were several sets of medium to difficult instructions to do a "live resize", and even a youtube video.

but it is now trivial, just select the menu item in the latest raspbian image, and reboot.

same deal with sshd. you will have remote access just by selecting the menu item on setup and reboot with enet cable attached. tiny led's next to red power led will light up if your cable is okay.

I got a couple of wifi dongles - will try that soon.

hey, I orderd 2 raspberry pi's with mice but Newark/element14 sent me eight of each! if you want a set (mouse + raspberry) I have 4 left and will sell them at my cost which is $47. email me before Sunday... russt at tremlabs dot net.

if you bring a 4gb SD card, then (on mac):

    dd of=/dev/rdisk2 if=[masked]-wheezy-raspbian.img bs=2m

I found that using raw dev is much faster.

I was able to use a very fast (90MBS) SD card, despite issues I had read about some faster "ultra" cards.

I'm not going to make this one; it's a bit outside my normal sunday radius. If any Raspberry Pi users or wannabe users are living in SF, we could arrange a sub-meetup in the city sometime. Mostly I'm interested in chatting with Pi users about what they are doing with it, and how.

Maybe attending. I just got a couple PIs. I might be able to make it, depending on whats going on and where the meetup ends up.

Our group now has 100 members. Thank you all for the support. I am now talking to several different sponsors and potential event hosts so we can get a location figured out asap.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. The Raspberry Pi community is growing and exciting news is coming out every day.

Specifically, we heard the great news of the revision 2.0 boards being manufactured in the UK. More info: http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1925

I look forward to meeting those of you RSVP'ed for our upcoming first meeting.

    Best regards,
    Alex

I'm really interested in any DC power supplies for use with thw R-Pi in a solar power installation ( 10 to 18 VDC ). I currently am pointing in the LM7805 direction.

If you don't have a location, my other meetup meets at Carrows on El Camino. There is also Solid State Startups location, Ground Zero coworking space.

Not sure if I can make that date, but I'm definitely interested in a South-Bay Rpi group
