Sex, Slavery and Militarism

The issue of Japanese Imperial (and global) wartime sexual slavery has been a major issue between Korea and Japan, especially since the Halmoni (grandmothers) began speaking out in the early 1990's. Dr. Shin Hei Soo has been at the forefront of the steady progress which has been made, acting as the Commissioner on National Human Rights in Korea, Convener of the World Conference on Womens Human Rights, and acting as a Representative on the National Movement on the Elimination of Sex Trafficking.

Shin Hei Soo is the special UN Advisor to the Secretary General, and is a professor at Ewha Womens University, Graduate School of International Studies. Seoul, South Korea

Fee: 10,000 W to go towards providing scholarships for mainly Myanmarese women (some men are in the group) who want to be students of guitar. They live in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Any extra income goes towards village development projects.
