A Night of Reactive Programming

Our kickoff event. We'll be announcing the speaker lineup and talks shortly.

Nurun Toronto has generously offered space for the meetup and will be providing refreshments.

If you RSVP, but plan not to attend, please change your status so a member on the wait-list can take your spot.

Hey Kevin, what will happen with the video that was recorded during the event?

    July 28, 2014

    • Kevin W.

I'm editing the videos as we speak, but it will take some time. Eventually they will all go on Vimeo, although I can only upload 5 gigs per week and each video is about 4 gigs.

Sorry I didn't make it to this awesome event.
I've been playing with Meteor for almost two years now and it's now the first thing that comes to mind when I hear "reactive programming" :) You might want to check it out: https://www.meteor.com/

Kevin, would be nice to see your last slide (with references) once more :)

I'm going to publish my slides on Monday, trying to figure out the best way to do that. Will also be publishing the video.

Thanks everyone for coming out! A huge thanks to the presenters. Really looking forward to the next one.

The feedback I've received is that the talks and venue were great, but the night went too late. Agreed. Next time we'll limit the night to either three 20 minute presentations, or two 45 minute presentations, leaving lots of time to socialize afterwards (no intermission).

I'm also going to work out details for an upcoming hackathon.

Get in touch if you'd like to contribute in any way (talking, co-ordinating, etc).

    -Kevin.

Great talks. Thanks Kevin and all other speakers. Not sure if anyone has seen this webinar or mentioned it here but it's up on JetBrains youtube channel now:

FYI: we haven't been able to line up a videographer for the talks yet. If anyone has near pro-gear (including a decent quality audio solution) and doesn't mind recording on Thursday please get in touch. I'm also reaching out to freelancers, but in the nature of staying DIY and reactive thought I'd also put this out to the community. :)

There's a small change in the speaker lineup. Dave Sugden of BoldRadius will be presenting "Scala.Rx and Reactive DOM Rendering". A huge thanks to Dave and BoldRadius for filling out the lineup on short notice!

Hey, Kevin - the site with the agenda is on vacation :-)

    1 · July 4, 2014

    • Kevin W.

Sorry about that, I got it straightened out!

I spoke with Nurun and we've increased the capacity of the event. Everyone who was waitlisted can now attend! The only catch is that space is a bit tight and seats will fill up fast so some people will need to stand. We'll do our best to ensure everyone has a good experience, but if you want to guarantee a seat, come early. :)

I have some great news to share. I'm now working at Typesafe as a developer advocate! This makes our kickoff event extra exciting for me.

Big thanks to everyone who's coming out to our very first event. I only wish we didn't have to implement a wait list. To make up for it I plan on hosting these quite regularly, so stay tuned. :)

Our event is officially at capacity. Incredible! Because of this, your RSVP is now even more important. If you decide not to attend the event for any reason, even at the last minute, please change your RSVP. Another group member on the wait-list can take your spot... but only if you send us an update. Thanks for understanding!

Almost 40 RSVPs for our kickoff event, exciting!

We have another 30 minute spot left for presenting, so if you're interested, please fill out the form below. Thanks!

I'm planning on hosting another in September. Lots of future events in the works!
