A Book and Wine Club for FABulously Social
Women of Color
Hello, you FABulously social wine and book lover! We sincerely appreciate your interest in Read Between the Wines, however, we are not adding new members to the group at this time.
We anticipate welcoming those on our waiting list in January 2015. If you would like to be added to our roster of FABulous new members at that time, please complete our Membership Questionnaire, and you will be notified the moment the group is once again open to new members.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and certainly look forward to sipping and chatting with you soon. Again, thanks so much for your interest in Read Between the Wines--a Book and Wine Club for FABulously Social Women of Color!
Thinking about joining RBTW? We'd love to have you! Before completing your membership request, please be advised:
Members must attend at least one book discussion every three months. This means that members may not miss three consecutive book discussions. Any member who misses three consecutive discussions will unfortunately have to be removed. This is a small group (we allow no more than 21 members), so participation is important. Prior to joining, please be sure that your schedule will allow you to meet this minimum attendance requirement. Thanks!
WHO should join:
If you are a woman of color in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area, 35 years and above, who enjoys a good book and a nice glass of wine- be FABulously social and join us to sip and discuss our book selections each month!
WHAT we read:
Works by authors across the African diaspora- novels, motivation and inspiration, social issues, autobiographies, self-improvement, and more. Please note: this group will not be reading titles from the Horror, Erotica, or Fantasy genres, or those with religion or politics as the subject matter.
WHEN we meet:
Meetings will usually take place on either the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of each month at 4pm sharp! Please be prompt- lateness is so NOT FABulous!
WHERE we meet:
We will meet primarily at restaurants in South Jersey. We may occasionally cross the bridge to Philly- if the toll, parking hassle (and wine!) are worth it. In addition, we may also schedule meetups for wine tastings and/or literary events- so if you know of something great happening, just make a suggestion!
WHY we meet:
The purpose of this group is to discuss books, drink wine, and socialize with like-minded Black women, but mainly to support and discover Black authors and literature.
HOW books are selected:
In order to attend a discussion, a book suggestion must accompany your RSVP. The Organizer will choose 3 submissions each month, which will be presented at the upcoming meeting. The members in attendance at that meeting will vote, and the winning title will be the selection for the following month. So, if you want a vote, you must attend a meetup! :-)
So, what are you waiting for?
Bring your book- or Kindle, iPad, or smart phone- and your FABulously social self to the next Read Between the Wines meetup!
New members must be approved by the Organizer

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
