First Meetup of the Rev War Vet Association!

Details

This will be the initial meeting of the informal RWVA group, so everyone is welcome!

We can eat or do cokes as we meet for a discussion of what RWVA is about - I think you will find it both unexpected, unusual, and challenging!

It's quite likely you will hear about events 200 years ago which are quite applicable to today's Americans - at least, you will hear that the founders, over 200 years ago, believed that they would be relevant to us moderns, whether we think so or not.

You will also hear some unusual things about the Revolution - like was it really supposed to be consigned to history books (a Founder will answer that question for you); who fired the first shots at Lexington Green (historians have argued over the "who" for generations - but you'll get the real answer to that question, along with the proof! WOW!); what caused the British to break and run after a two-minute encounter at the North Bridge with a bunch of colonial shopkeepers and farmers - and, not least, the answer to the question, "What was the name of Martha Washington's cat?" - there's a message in that story.

If we get time, we'll also see the heart-breaking impact of the Rev War on regular Americans, illustrated by the story "The Wedding Portrait That Never Was".

We will likely go 90 minutes at least; it's OK to show up late! (Or leave early!)

I make you two promises: 1) it will be different from what you expect and 2) at the end, when we're all done, I'm confident you'll say to yourself, "I'm glad I came!"

Hope you can make this first-ever meeting!
