Controlling Motors with the Raspberry Pi (Part 2)

Details
Last month we went through how to control high current/voltage devices using an electro-mechanical relay. This month we'll get a little more sophisticated and use some solid-state components to accomplish the same thing, with the added benefit of being able to control motor speed with PWM as well.
We'll be using some of the same parts as last time, but we'll be adding in an optocoupler and power transistor to the mix.
As always, even if you don't have a Raspberry Pi to work on, everyone is welcome to sit in and watch/learn and see what the Raspberry Pi can do.
