Introduction to Raspberry Pi for Kids

I got approval from Norco Branch Public Library to use their meeting room for a beginning class, intro to RasPi. It's a start :)

The date is January 19th at 10:30 AM. I will use the remaining time to gather signups of kids, and of adults wanting to help. Anyone wanting to help may get in touch with me here, or at the blog. Or, as of now, at the Riverside Raspberry meetup on

Thanks, Scotty! I will also solicit input as to when would be a popular meeting, probably weekday evenings for adults demos/planning meetings, etc., and Saturday morning for kids classes, etc.

Hey John I will not be able to make it due to work but I wanted to know will there be a way that I can view your presentation. Or at least view some slides and get a link to examples?

This is basically two hours of what I think will work best and what will fit in two hours. I am definitely open to suggestions -- especially if you'll be there to help carry them out ;)

I will not be using a projector, since I think that takes away from getting the kids hands on experience. Also, I don't have a projector. Instead, I'll have one RasPi set up with traditional monitor, keyboard, mouse. Then I'll have another, possibly set up the same way, or maybe set up as remote ssh from my Mac laptop, just to show command line and show how useful this configuration can be.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
