Corcoran Gallery of Art - War/Photography Exhibit Tour followed by DC Photo Walk

Details

This should be a great event!

First we will tour the War/Photography Exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. "This landmark exhibition revolutionizes our understanding of this momentous subject, immersing viewers in the experience of soldiers and civilians during wartime. WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY brings together images by more than 200 photographers from 28 nations and covers conflicts from the past 165 years—from the Mexican-American War through present-day conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Organized not chronologically but around themes such as “The Fight,” “Refugees,” and “Remembrance,” it shows how photography has informed our understanding of conflict over time, and around the world. Epic in scope and ambition, and featuring many of the most indelible photographs ever made, WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY takes us from the home front to the battlefield and back again." For more information: http://www.corcoran.org/warphoto

Due to the graphic nature of the Exhibit, children under 16 are not allowed.

After our tour, we can continue to explore the Corcoran's other exhibits should there be time. The gallery closes at 5PM on Saturdays.

For those interested in hanging out, we plan to practice our evening/low light and night photography skills around the mall. We can do this until we are beat!

Registration Fees:

There is a fee for this tour and it is due upon registration. We will be remitting payment for the tour participants prior to the event and the Corcoran doesn't provide refunds. Therefore, if you register and then need to cancel, we will not provide a refund, unless your spot is filled by someone on the waiting list (if there are folks on the waiting list). Payment of the registration fee can be made through Paypal.
