I have spent most of my life studying a lot of things. I loved learning and dreaming of what could be. I wanted to learn more so that I could make the better futures I wanted at some point. Robotics has become a part of that. I watched the various robot fight competitions and loved them. I read books that used them in battle and loved the idea of it even more. Now I want to make my own. I hope to set up an arena at some point and start my own competitions allowing people in this area to have easy access to that sort of fun. Given the significant lack of entertainment options in my area I think it could do well.
I am interested in many sorts of robots. While radio control is currently my favorite I would enjoy learning about autonomous units as well. I would love to learn about animal like robots (walking, slithering, flapping wings, etc.) since they are rather neat and potentially more efficient from what I have read, but favor the more conventional methods (LTA, airfoils, propellers, and wheels) in my own attempts since those designs have worked well. As said before my major aim is combat robotics, but this is not to say that I do not enjoy learning the other sorts of robotics out there.

I am Ryan. I am a geek and lover of the sciences. Robotics looked fascinating and useful. I hope to learn a lot from you all and hope that I can be a useful addition to your group.
They are a great bunch of people with neat interests. Everyone is helpful and supportive of other peoples projects. What is even better is that they are actively trying to improve things all the time. The founder is taking notes and is constantly interested in suggestions to improve and topics to give attention to. I can only imagine things improving over time in what is already a rather good group.
