Watch the Sunset over the Ocean at Lookout Point overlooking the entrance to Newport Harbor. This will be our new and better viewing spot. The Summer nights are getting warm enough now so that we can have some evening bike cruises. The Sun starts setting about 6:53 and is gone by 7:03 PM so we will need to ARRIVE at least by 6:00PM in order to leave Bill Barber Park no later than 6:15 SHARP and ride down the bike trail thru Back Bay and catch Bayview to Fernleaf for a short one block steep climb and to Ocean Bl where we will hang out at that sign in the picture that you see here until the Sun is gone. As soon as the Sun sets then we can head back on Poppy turning left on 5th Av and right on Marguerite to 'NEW TURN' San Joaquin Hills Rd. turning LEFT HERE and going down San Joaquin to the Back Bay and then turn right on Back Bay Dr. and taking the Bike Path all the way back to Bill Barber Park. Food after the ride, your time permitting.

Because of the average speed of 13.5 to 14.5+ and some hills on the way back this is a intermediate level ride.

NOTE: This is a "NEW" Meetup Spot "AND" a "NEW ROUTE". Please read it so you won't get lost. And Please be on time so we all can see the actual Sunset. Thanks.

See the 'NEW UPDATED ROUTE' going out on the West side of Back Bay & returning on San Joaquin Hills Rd. down to the Back Bay and then the Bike Trail: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3327606

We will make Corona Del Mar Beach a "regular" Restroom and Snack stop so everyone will know what to expect. The ride is now 24 miles and this stop is about half way and so it should work out perfect.

The Cover photo: https://www.meetup.com/Roberts-Cycling-Adventures/photos/15333952/244527872/

The cover photo was taken at Corona del Mar State Beach where we took a slight detour down the incline to the Beach. as you can see it was well worth it. The girl in the photo was with the guy who took the picture. She definitly enhanced the photo.

So charge up or replace your batteries and check your lights out and come over for a nice little Sunset cruise by the Ocean. Thanks.

Logistics: Take your bike and gear with you to work in the Morning and change at the ride start. Bill Barber Park has Restrooms close by to change in or just change in your car discretely like I do. Just park where nobody can just walk by and change under a towel or something like they do at the beach.

Bike Storage in Car: If you take one wheel off and put an old blanket in your back seat the bike should fit easy or if you take both wheels off the bike it should fit in the trunk. See me if you have questions.

Food After the ride:

The "California Fish Grill" was a big hit with all of us last time, so we will do that again after the ride. Time permitting. It closes at 9:00 PM so move it on the way back please. Thanks. Our Back up food place can be Chili's which is open later. Always good.

Wahoo's Fish Taco's on Michelson near Jamboree is also good!
