What's the Difference Between a Ghost Hunt and a Ghost Investigation?

Ghost Hunt - going to a place were there have been no sightings of ghosts and trying to catch some on film (video and photos), sounds, eyewitness, etc. (graveyards are the number one place to start, churches, schools and older buildings too)

Ghost Investigation - going to a known haunted place and recording data (video, photos, audio, temperatures), notes, interviews and other evidence to prove/disprove the haunting and to assist the owners and the spirits in moving on and leaving the place if they want that. The assistance can be either you directly assisting the owner with the situation or putting them in contact with experienced groups or individuals that will try to resolve the situation. Your assistance can be something as simple as educating them on what is going on and their options.

Founded in May 2007, with just 4 members, we have grown to 157 members as of October 2011. In 2007, we were the only active, real paranormal ghost hunting group established in Monroe County.  But, now there are many paranormal groups in this area and we welcome them all.  Many are invited to hunt with us for certain events. Many of our members are also members of other paranormal groups.  We welcome them all and share information with them. We have always felt there’s room for everyone in this area.  No competition from us or from them and no ego trips here. We're all different in our approach to ghost hunting, but we all get the same results in the end, and that’s what counts!!

We are a group of believers in the paranormal, who meet monthly to discuss paranormal activities that are occurring in and around the Rochester area. Our members range from beginner to pro. During warm weather, we schedule one hunt per month (unless otherwise noted on the calendar). The times and dates vary based on the venue, however, hunts generally occur on a Saturday night unless otherwise noted. Our monthly meetings are year-round and occur at 7PM on the fourth Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted.

Our group is primarily a social group designed to meet friends and explore "haunted" areas in and around Rochester. We will also be taking out of town hunts occasionally in the summer of 2011, with travel time up to 1-1½ hours away, depending on the venue and desire of members.  It’s important to mention that we are not TAPS. We do not provide a TAPS experience - there are other groups in the area that do that. Our group is specifically designed around fellowship and experience, not science and procedure. Although many of our members are very serious about investigating and are equipped with professional equipment and use it during our hunts.  We make it a point to share our time and knowledge with all members on the proper use of this equipment.  We also have loaner equipment for members to use on our hunts. Monthly meetings are usually open discussions on a recent hunt and in the colder months we try to have guest speakers come in to talk to the group on a variety of interesting paranormal topics.
