I started this group because my experience as a composer was unusual and, I suppose, might be similar to others'. I studied composition in the 1970's and found myself in an unrelated career field. In retirement I've returned to that early interest with a passion. If your experience was similar and you would like to return to composing, join the "Rochester Senior Composers" (BTW you don't have to be a "...senior" to join). The purpose of this group is to provide a shared experience and a shared knowledge base for those who do not have access to an academic home base for professional ties and support. Possible opportunities available to members would be performance of their work, constructive members' critique, self publishing/promoting methods and experiences for individuals and the Meet Up group, copyright issues, periodic performances within the group and perhaps public performances.
