Sport Climbing - Poison Ivy Wall - Swim After

Details

We had such a great time last time I'm gonna organize this trip again...

It is a bit too hot to climb in the morning at West Point, let's meet at the Peekskill train station at 11:50AM.

Catch the 10:50AM train from Grand Central. I have room in my Jeep for 3 plus gear.
Space is limited to 4 persons per rope, others are welcome to join us by carpooling if they bring more gear.

This is a sport climbing wall with routes from 5.6 to 5.11a. We need to have at least one rope, a set of quick draws and 1 lead climber per 4 persons. I will open it up to more people as equipment becomes available.

Who can come: Climbers who know how to belay and own personal climbing equipment (harness, belay device, locking biner, rock shoes and helmet). You have to be familiar belaying with an ATC or similar device (not a Gri-Gri) and fluent in tieing into the rope. THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A HOW TO CLIMB instructional meetup. If you want an intro on how to rock climb, please check out our weekly indoor climbing meetups. EVERYONE HAS TO WEAR A HELMET AT ALL TIMES (no sharing helmets).

Bring a swim suite and reef shoes/river sandals too, we will be able to take a dip to cool off

How to RSVP: In your RSVP, please state whether you can lead or second, or top-rope only; whether you have a rope and/or other gear - we will cut off after we pass 3 climbers per rope ratio. But drivers and people who have gear will be given first priority. Post in your RSVP about your ride.

What to bring: personal climbing gear, water, lunch, rain gear, headlamp, bug spray. You may also bring hammocks, chairs or bouldering crashpads.

Safety caution: all climbers should wear helmets at the crag at all times. Rappel with a backup at all times. If you don't agree with these safety measures - leaders can and WILL refuse climbing with you and you should understand that the organizers as well as other members cannot be held for liability!

Disclaimers:
Rock climbing is a dangerous activity that can lead to serious injury or worse. You should not undertake these without proper training or equipment. By signing up on this trip you are also electronically signing a waiver of liability!
