Shake a tail feather at Club Soulside, a deejay dance night throwback to the fab 10-year era of 1962-71. Not required, but more fun if you dress the part. (suits, parkas, miniskirts, go-go boots, fishnets) Nice arty yet simple room, very nice crowd, great music, anything-goes dancing. The dancing is optional, no pressure. You're welcome to just sit with your drink and watch.
Frankly, this doesn't rock as much as it R&Bs. Theme is Northern Soul, all spun from the original vinyl; plus some garage, rock steady and ska thrown in the mix. But, it totally evokes the era when these musics stood side by side in harmony, and the crowd overlapped.
Free parking on the street; the earlier the better. Careful not to scrape any of the Vespas when you parallel park. $8 cover ($4 females before 10pm). 18 & over; bring ID. Wine/beer/soda only.
