Data Visualization With AngularJS

  • Sep 10, 2013 · 6:30 PM

Hey Angulars-

For this month's meetup, we'll be taking a look at using AngularJS to visualize data in the browser. We'll break down an AngularJS application that uses D3, look at how we can roll our own visualization widgets, and talk about data binding best practices. This will definitely be some cool stuff.

We'll also be introducing an AngularJS problem solving session hosted by local developer Eric Internicola, which will tackle a common problem in AngularJS, and offer up a viable solution. If you'd like your problem tackled, shoot a tweet to @AngularJS Denver with the hashtag #angularjsproblem.

Meeting Agenda

6:30-6:45 Networking

6:45-7:15 AngularJS - Problem of the Month

7:20-8:30 Data Visualization in AngularJS

Looking forward to seeing everyone...

I have not had any opportunity to try Angular out, I look forward to seeing it in action.

I really liked Rich's presentation: the overview was great, the details were just-right (not too much, not too little). And as Andrew Bleeda stated, it was impressive to watch Rich mold his talk to what we wanted. Very nice! Rich gave us PLENTY to go off of - it was an excellent intro. to using D3 in Angular, saving me quite a bit of time in the getting-started (read: where I'd want to quit!) stage.

And whoever it was that did the opening q-and-a... very nice! Not a fun topic to be thrown at on-the-spot!!

Interesting presentation, Rich did an impressive job catering his talk to his audience, he could be a professor some day. As someone familiar with the basics of directives and services and DI, I was hoping more time would have been spent featuring D3. On the other hand, I can easily go look up D3 examples now, and make them work using the principles Rich covered. I'd love to see a follow up to this talk that goes into more detail about novel uses of D3.
