Lots of new meetup members...Hope to see many of you tomorrow night and maybe meet some new folks!
A few announcements from this week:
Maker HeARTs: Two maker exhibits in the RACA/Redmond HeART community art project

  • "Is This Love?": Stacy Cates created a metal/steampunk-inspired creation with fluttering hearts which is stationed at Swift & Finch.

  • "Hand to Heart": Zane + Harrison created an interactive exhibit that responds to the heart rate of the viewer's hands.   You can find it in the Redmond lobby.

Great to have both analog and the digital art/making represented for the community! Check them out in person and online here: http://bit.ly/HeARTGallery
Votes will be cast all month and People's Choice will be awarded on the 28th.  Go makers!!

FRIDAY Schedule
Quick reminder that the space has been rented this Friday, Feb. 7 by the Chemical and Specialties Management Council board of directors. They will be there from 7:30-Noon.  We'll be printing out some giveaways for them tomorrow night. I'm thinking some molecules or maybe a chemical chess set :) If you have projects in the presentation space up by the stage, make sure and move them somewhere safe before Friday morning.

ECO Center Adoption
We are going to schedule a Make Night field trip to the city's ECO center as an initiative led by member Mary Hardin. This space is super rad and a maker's playground. There are a few projects in mind for members of all ages/skill levels. This will be a neat way that we can give to a worthwhile project while getting to do what we love. And hang out with a snapping turtle. Stay tuned for dates for this field trip.

Firefly Experience
We've been asked by RACA to come up with something involving kids, programming, and art to help create a firefly experience for the annual Firefly Fling in April. We are thinking something like this as a Kids & Programming workshop. If you are interested in helping out, let me know.
