Ecological Literacy Immersion Program Building Our Regenerative Future: A 4-Week Certificate Program
July 6–August 1, 2014
Solving today’s challenges requires ecological literacy—an understanding of the core principles that underlie all natural systems. Using the framework of regenerative design—a whole system, place-based approach to problem solving that considers the connections between society, nature, and individuals—this innovative 4-week residential certificate program explores new ways to create communities that regenerate the health and well-being of all living things.
Using the 200-acre Omega campus as our classroom, we learn to consciously design our learning goals, the physical landscape, and the social systems we would like to create. While deepening our understanding of place, we look at current challenges and learn from the solutions that exist at Omega and around the world. Guided by experts in the fields of permaculture, biodynamic agriculture, ecological engineering, water and soil science, renewable energy, and whole systems design, we explore the potential for building a regenerative future.
Through lectures, discussion, hands-on projects, field trips, community experience, and personal reflection, we explore ecology from a social, economic, and spiritual perspective. What we learn in the process is an approach that can be applied to creative problem solving anywhere.
Participants in this 4-week program will earn an internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certificate.
