Permaculture Planting at the Ashokan Center
Hosted by AppleSeed Permaculture
Come volunteer for a day of nut-tree planting at the Ashokan Center!
As part of their transition to a green & sustainable campus, the Ashokan Center commissioned an ecological agriculture / permaculture plan (Below). Starting in 2009, a useful plant nursery was created on-site, and in 2010 they planted out 50+ nut trees along the perimeter of a field.

This year, we're planting another 35 long-term nut trees -- a mix of chestnuts, walnuts, hickories and more! You'll learn the best practices for receiving bare-root nut trees, planting techniques, deer & rodent protection measures, and proper care guidelines for these useful and delicious trees. We'll also tour the nursery and discuss what's happening next at Ashokan!
Please bring your own water, lunch, and tools if you've got'em. And RSVP so we know who's coming!
