Since working on the last presidential campaign, I've taken a step back from involvement in community affairs. I'm looking now to resume that involvement, and the first step is to seek volunteering opportunities- something I've always found extremely rewarding. I'd also like to meet like-minded individuals, and build on my network of people who, like myself, feel a responsibility to give back & effect positive change in the community.
I'm most interested in social justice issues -in particular civil rights & urban legal issues. Volunteering or speakers related to mental health, homelessness, education, and environmental matters would also be most welcome. Really any opportunity to learn about &/or work for good causes sounds great, as part of what I'm currently aiming for is to explore different fields and further expand my horizons.
I've lived in the Milwaukee area most of my life, & as an undergrad at Marquette truly began embracing my long-held interest in public service. Since then, I've gained experience in politics, non-profits, & issue advocacy- esp at the local level.
