The Round Rock Geeks Group is a technology group started February 2011 to bring together fellow geeks with interests in many technologies. The group meets once a month and we currently have over 190 members, with around 15-30 attending any given meetup. We often broadcast our meetups live on Google+ and have had geeks join as far away as Alaska.
The group members span a wide range of interests: software, electronics, mechanical engineering, the Web, mobile technology, radio, gaming, science, mathematics, and more. These are professionals, hobbyists, and total beginners. Ages range from kids to retired people, male and female. Anyone is welcome.
A typical meeting includes a talk by an invited speaker, show-and-tell of member projects, and random, interesting discussions. Sometimes we have a class on something (e.g. programming iPhone). Sometimes we do a hands-on hacking night (e.g. building Arduino projects). Sometimes, we even have food, provided by a sponsor. (Or bring a brown bag, if you like.)
Meetings happen on the first Thursday on the month, from 6:30-8:30 PM, at Tech Shop, in Round Rock, TX (http://techshop.ws/austin_round_rock.html).(If you haven't been to Tech Shop, yet, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??)
