Ruby 1.9.2 to 1.9.3: What's new?

Most people have made the jump to Ruby 1.9.2 (You *have* haven't you?). Let's take a look at what's coming up in the latest MRI release 1.9.3. This update is evolutionary, not revolutionary, but there is still some important changes and benefits you'll want to keep in mind.

About The Presenter

Jim "Big Tiger" Remsik is a big guy who tends to hug people. Jim has been working with Ruby on a daily basis since becoming an original member of Hashrocket in 2008. He now works with the fine folks at Bendyworks in Madison, WI and with his wife, Jenifer, brought Madison Ruby Conference from crazy idea to fruition.

Bucketworks

Bucketworks usually keeps there doors locked. Buzz up and let them know you are there for the RubyMKE meetup or message @rubymke and someone will let you in. We will be in the meetup space just to the left after you enter.

Pizza

For those who are interested, pizza will be available at the meetup. Since we don’t have a sponsor at this time, donations are appreciated.

After the Meeting

We will head down to Transfer Pizza (101 W Mitchell St, at the intersection 1st, Mitchell and Kinnichinnic Ave) after the meetup for refreshments & conversation. Everyone is welcome, and encouraged, to join us.

I had a great time all due to the great people who showed up. Jim gave a great, informative presentation. I can't wait to start hacking on 1.9.3 myself.
