I know this is a running group but hiking is just a slower pace with a lot of distance, I thought maybe some would be interested. But if you are you better hurry it's 2/3's filled up already!! Our organizer Mike Cornell found this and he is also doing the 100k, what a challange basically a hiking ultra!!!

(www.onedayhike.org) 62 miles on the towpath of the C&O canal, from Washington DC to Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. Starts at 3:00 AM, ends at midnight. That's right, you have a whole 21 hours! Yes, you'll need a light, yes, you'll hardly be able to move at the end, and yes, it's entirely doable for anyone willing to train. Many people 60 or older have completed the hike. Training is the key - only 40% finished last year, mainly the ones that properly trained. Committing to an event like this or the Rachel Carson Challenge makes for great motivation to stay active all winter. If you want to do it, though, you best get training right away!

Registration is limited to 350 people. 216 have already signed up as of 1/30/09. RSVP'ing here does NOT get you a spot - you have to go to their web site to register. If you want to do it, it's time to get moving (literaly and figuratively!)
