Lyuba K (Co-Organizer) is the "real" Head Organizer, I'm only listed as Organizer because my wife and I share a Meetup account, Cheers, Mike :)
This group is for people who speak Russian, study Russian, planning on going to Russia for business or travel, or someone who simply enjoys being around Russians.
This group promotes meeting new people and making friends.
We will get together for all kinds of the events, such as hikes, picnics, movie nights, going to shows and museums, and volunteering.
Many of us (like me) are married or are in relationship with non-Russian speaking people. They are very much welcomed to join the events. If you choose to belong to this group, you have to respect those relationships and do not be prejudice to people of other nationalities.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in discussions via website and share ideas regarding meetup events.
If everything said above appeals to you, go ahead and join this group.
Hope to see you soon on our meetups.
“Russian Club OC” is a group that welcomes people from all walks of life who are interested in Russia and Russian culture. This group strives to create a Russian social network in OC, to give people a sense of Russian community, to give a feeling of being at home away from home.
“Russian Club OC” creates opportunities for Russians to speak their native language, to be around people who share the same culture, and the same background. This group brings together people who learned from the same textbooks at school, who sang the same songs, and watched the same movies. It is a place where people can forget about being foreigners and feel rather at home here.
“Russian Club OC” is here for people who recently arrived into this country and who might feel isolated and rather nostalgic about their homeland as well as for people who have been living here for a while and want to stay connected with their culture, language, and likeminded people.
Also, this group is for people of a second and third generation Russians, who may want to keep their Russian side alive.
There is a broad range of activities this MeetUp provides to achieve its purpose:
