Rust LA Monthly Meetup - Hack Night

Come spend a few hours writing Rust with fellow Rustaceans! If you are new to Rust, you can start working on some of the exercism.io Rust exercises (http://exercism.io/languages/rust). No experience required as there will be people present that can help you get started.

I also have a neat project for people to work with me on that requires speed, concurrency and correctness. Recently, a capture the flag programming challenge called Stockfighter was released. There are trading levels that require a person to execute trading strategies against the Stockfighter electronic trading market. More info on Stockfighter can be found on their website (https://www.stockfighter.io/).

As a group, we will collaborate on building a Stockfighter SDK (https://github.com/rust-los-angeles/stockfighter-sdk-rs) in Rust. Using this SDK, we can work individually or in a group to solve the different levels. For those of you who want to write more Rust, this is a great project to work on.

The Stock Fighter game was created for the explicit purpose of recruiting and hiring developers. If you have any interest in finding a job related to Rust or systems programming, this is a great thing to have on your resume. Even more so if your background is in another area, such as web development.

If you are not interested in participating, then you are more than welcome to still attend the meetup. I will have food and drink for everyone. Sit back, relax and we can talk about Rust for a few hours.
