The meetup "Tea with 'Elizabeth' at the Cinema" on Sat Mar 17th has been cancelled, due to lack of participation. That's okay, because our meetup on that same date, at Garden Tea Lounge, Craftiques Mall, has plenty of 'Yes' RSVPs.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, though, have lots to offer for a meetup sometime in the future. Teas, both hot and cold, are on the menus at all locations, it seems, plus food selections which vary according to location, season, and sometimes with the theme of the movie. Descriptions of the dishes are very appealing. Beer and wine options are pretty darn awesome, and vegetarians will find a good range of choices, too. Definitely sounds like a good time!
I left inquiries about how they intended to serve the tea at the screening of "Elizabeth" but have yet to get a response. One of our members, from a previous experience with tea at Alamo Drafthouse, had reported getting warm tea in a paper cup with no way of knowing how long it had been steeping. Although I have no doubts about the quality of Zhi Tea products, I doubt that they'd have much chance of living up to their potential, given the apparent lack of skilled attention to their preparation. If I can ever get an answer from a real live person who is in the know about this (i shot off an email to Jeffrey at Zhi Tea, too) I'll let you know what they had to say.
