Statement of Purpose:

The SAF initiative is providing a sustainability platform with a cohesive purpose geared to increase growers’ interest in helping to make fresh organic food accessible to everyone, driven by the principle of consuming what one grows in partnership with earth.

WHAT IS SAF?

This is a grassroots movement honoring those who participate in community-based food programs by sponsoring, adopting and fostering garden plots to help end hunger.

The Dynamics of the SAF Project:

The SAF garden consists of garden plots that are 25’x25’ and each plot is split into 4 garden beds, separated by one inch pathways.  Every 4 garden plots form a garden section, separate by 5-feet walkways.  The garden cluster is formed by two sections or more separate by 10-feet driveways.

What Dose SAF Provide?

  • FREE SAF community outreach workshops are aimed at linking mainstream America to community-based food programs, raising awareness about children in America who live in impoverished areas of the country, particularly those who suffer from obesity and the lifelong mental consequences of improper nutrition.  As a result, the SAF Community Garden System was founded to stimulate the interest of younger talent and develop food growers of the future at an early age.

  • SAF is proud to offer prospective garden members the ways and means, including land plots, for those who are taking part in the “Match What You Grow 4 the Hungry” Program.  In essence, creating one’s own garden domain has been the driving force behind this liberating and rewarding initiative.  Moreover, the integration of the Forest Garden System is aiding growers to enhance output without the strenuous activity of digging and/or plowing, making it simpler, easier and more fun than ever before.

"Hi my name is Katy Morter and my husband and I just moved to NWA. We're expecting our first child at the beginning of October so eating healthily is more important than ever for us! We'd love to make some new friends who share in that passion."
