We had such a yummy time at the first Death by Chocolate event 2 years ago that I am bringing it back again! And I am going to copy part of the last event’s write-up…This potluck event celebrates all things chocolate: truffles, cakes, cupcakes, fudge, brownies, cookies, cream pie, pudding, candy, sauces, ice cream, and more. Bring and share your favorite chocolate dish, or be inspired to try out a new chocolate recipe. Feel free to use assorted chocolate types: dark, bittersweet, semi-sweet, white, etc.

As part of her potluck contribution, our Dove Chocolate sponsor will bring for us to taste some new and some classic items from Dove (I put in a request for the Chardonnay Wine Brittle, Chocolate Martinis, and Lemon Meyer cupcakes). I had a preview of the new items on Jan 27th and I am hooked on the Tequila Lime Brittle and White Chocolate Raspberry Vinaigrette. I will be making a chicken bbq pizza with a sauce that will be laced with chocolate. Yes, believe it, it is addictive!

Since we are doing this potluck during the lunch hour, in addition to the chicken pizza, there will be a few savory or non-chocolate appetizers to nosh on and to balance out the sugar rush. I suggest you have a big breakfast so when you arrive at the event, you can dig right into the chocolate. I am looking for someone to make another chocolate meat entrée though - who is going to be brave enough to make chicken mole?!?!?

RULES for your chocolate item:

  1. I am being somewhat picky here. If you are not making your potluck item, please bring things that are from a stand-alone bakery or restaurant only. Please do not bring a chocolate item from a market. Please spend at least $15 on your purchased item. I recommend chocolate desserts from King’s Hawaiian in Torrance.

  2. ***We need a well-distributed mix of appetizers and dessert, so I have provided a menu recap below. Please choose a category where there are still openings and state in your RSVP comment what you think you might bring. You can be more specific when we get closer to the event.

Recap of what to bring:

  1. One potluck item per attendee (if you are bringing a guest, please make sure to indicate what you are bringing for each person)

  2. Your own serving platter and utensil.

  3. An alcoholic beverage for yourself and/or to share (optional). Milk and water will be provided.

  4. Your own ziploc bags or plastic containers to take home leftovers

Event address and contact info will be sent to you prior to the event.
