Cookbook Book Club - The Silver Palate Cookbook

This is the fourth installation of our cookbook book club. I believe the last book was a great success, and I personally would remake everything that we tasted. For those of you not familiar with the premise, it is pretty simple. We have a monthly book club…for a cookbook. Everyone brings a dish from the cookbook, so we are all able to get a taste of what it has to offer.
Apologies in advance for scheduling this on a long holiday weekend again. I did not want to skip a month and will be out of town the only other available Saturday.
This month’s cookbook is The Silver Palate Cookbook by Julee Rosso & Sheila Lukins, which has been a guide to homecooks for decades.
From Amazon: The collection, whose recipes range from hors d'oeuvres to sweets, now arrives in a 25th-anniversary edition, which reproduces the original text and adds color photos throughout, often dropped into the text pages. All the old favorites, including Marinated Eggplant Livia, Chicken Marbella, Blanquette de Vaeu, and Blackberry Mousse are present, along with information about ingredients, menus, quotes, and other asides--all the things that help make the book such a pleasure. It's hard to imagine a cook--and especially one who entertains--not owning Silver Palate. This printing, which includes a retrospective foreword, offers more satisfaction still while reiterating the reasons for the book's enduring appeal.

It is available on Amazon for $12.36 (used versions are as low at $2). The Los Angeles Public Library System has 20 copies, Orange County has 17, and Long Beach has 2.

Please, please, please add in your RSVP or the comments what you are bringing so we can avoid repeats. Also, be sure to bring a serving utensil for your dish and Tupperware, so you can cart your favorites home. It is BYOB, and I will provide water, tea, and cokes. I will also provide the plates, cups, silverware, and napkins.
**A potluck item is required of all attendees. Any member's guest(s) must also bring a potluck item.
