Hi SB UXers,
If you missed the September UX talk, take a peek at the photos section and you know you want to join the Nov. meetup. Great presentations by Amber and Zach (rated as the best two by a lynda girl in our office:), and special thanks to Citrix Online for hosting.
We got exciting and fun topic in the upcoming meetup and the presenter is:

Laura Smith, Senior User Exeprience Designer at Citrix Online.
The influence of social media now reaches far beyond recreational, personal use. It is critical to start thinking about 'social by design' in business because the web is being rebuilt around people. The evidence of this fundamental change is all around us. Smart businesses are re-orienting themselves around people, their friends, and their networks. In order to do so successfully, they’ll need a deep understanding of how our social lives are structured, what motivates us to interact with others, and how our identity shapes our behavior.

Many companies have tried adding social functionality to their existing products. Laura will explain why this approach of ‘bolting-on’ social features is unlikely to work. She will explain why successful social products are built around social behavior, and she will give an overview of some fundamental design principles, based on decades of research into social behavior, that teach designers how to design products and features that are ‘social by design’.

Food will be served: courtesy of lynda.com.

See you soon!
