Startup Weekend Santa Barbara, scheduled for June 1, 2 & 3, is a 52 hour collaborative event that brings together business minds, developers and designers to create businesses, networking opportunities and continue to build the Santa Barbara entrepreneurial community. There is more info here: http://santabarbara.startupweekend.org and http://www.startupweekend.com
If you sign up now to join a team as a designer, you can get $25 off the registration fee - this includes food and drinks for the whole weekend, so it's a great deal! They're welcoming of designers of all types and experience levels, whether you're a graphic designer, web designer, UX designer, product designer or anywhere in between.
Kyle Ashby, the founder of the StartupSB Meetup group and organizer of this event, is also looking for experienced UX designers and/or researchers who would be interested in being a mentor during the weekend to assist teams as they work through some of the UX challenges while building prototypes and their businesses. This is a great option if you can't spare the whole weekend, and it's a great opportunity to participate in your local tech community and make some great connections.
Please visit http://santabarbara.startupweekend.org or contact Kyle directly if you have any questions.
Looking forward to seeing you there, it should be fun!
