New Year New You Hike in Solstice Canyon

Details
Hey Party People!
Join us this Saturday as we escape from the city and head out to Solstice Canyon in Malibu. Solstice Canyon is a place where nature greets you with the sights and sounds of a gentle stream set among oaks and sycamores. Green leaves surround you like a giant cocoon filling you with a sense of peace and solitude. On the hike, we'll pass a waterfall (although it might be a little dry right now) and what's left of an old Ranch House that met one too many fires. It will be a socially-paced, 4-mile hike with an elevation gain of about 800 feet.
If one of your new year's resolutions was to escape the recirculated air of the gym and get outdoors for some fresh air, this is a great beginner hike for you. So come out and introduce yourself (or re-introduce yourself if you've been away for awhile) to nature with us!
Bring a snack, 2 qt water, sturdy shoes with good traction, a hat/visor, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Bring money if you'd like to join us for an optional group lunch afterwards.
Parking is limited at the trailhead which can be quite a hassle so we encourage you to carpool and meet at the West LA rideshare point (Federal Building parking lot, visitors section, Veteran & Wilshire). Trailhead is approximately 20 miles from Rideshare point. Riders customarily share expenses with drivers.
Sierra Club Transportation Policy: "In the interests of facilitating the logistics of some outings, it is customary that participants make voluntary carpooling arrangements. The Sierra Club does not have insurance for carpooling arrangements and assumes no liability for them. Carpooling, ride sharing or anything similar is strictly a private arrangement among participants. Participants assume the risks associated with this travel."
As with all Sierra Club activities, a Liability Waiver must be signed in order to participate on this hike.
Meet N Greet/Sign In begins at 8:15AM. We leave at 8:30AM Sharp!
Any questions? Give a shout. Otherwise, we'll see ya there!
