I have noticed that there are no support groups in The Santa Clarita Valley for Arthritis, Lupus, Fibromyalgia & other autoimmune disease sufferers and I decided that it was time that we create one. This is a "Peer Support Group" where the group will mostly have a casual format and will focus on sharing experiences and learning from each others' experiences with the occasional guest speaker & different educational group "field trips". Although this group will definitely be a place to vent, it will also be a place to learn to cope and accept your illness and to have a group of peers that understand what you are going through and will always be there to help you through it. All of these disease's can be frustrating because you look fine on the outside, but have a serious illness and many of our peers have a difficult time understanding what we are going through. I want our members to leave our meetup feeling empowered and to know that they are not alone. Anyone with any form of Arthritis, Lupus, Fibromyalgia or any of the diseases in this large group of related illnesses are more than welcome to join us at our meetup sessions. I also encourage any family members to join us.
