Welcome to our group! Greater San Diego Medical Marijuana is very actively involved politically in the ongoing efforts to fully legalize medical marijuana; furthermore, we also serve as a support and information center for those who are prescribees of California medical marijuana and who comply strictly with California State Law.
At our gatherings, discussion may include, but are not limited to, the details of how to obtain, grow, and otherwise be involved with, medical marijuana so as to be in compliance with California State and County Law. We also review the Federal Law and explore ways of avoiding difficulties in these regards.
Our topics of conversation also include the history of medicinal marijuana cultures, the broad range of medical applications (from stress reduction to more complex maladies), the myriad of medicinal modalities, the various species of the fine herb, methodologies of cultivation for personal medicinal use, etc. etc.
Please join us for political action and for informative, fun, and mind-expanding times!....
..................Now for a dose of reality:
What You Need to Know About the Present Law:
Please be apprised: Marijuana (Medicinal or Not) is ALWAYS in violation of Federal Law, even though, in certain circumstances, it is legal under California State Law. This means that whereas a local or State California police officer won't make a marijuana arrest in certain (medicinal) circumstances, a Federal officer will nevertheless be empowered to make an arrest by virtue of precisely the same set of circumstances. In other words, the Federal Law and the California Law contradict each other.
Also, under California Law, marijuana is legal only for medicinal purposes and only within certain strict parameters. Deviation from these parameters is criminal even under California State Law (in addition to violating Federal law).
To be exempt from prosecution under California State Law, the person who acts in pertinence to the marijuana (i.e. possesses, grows, or transports, etc) must either be a medicinal user who has a proper medical prescription (as explicitly defined by statute) or a caregiver who assists the medical user within strict parameters (as explicitly defined by statute and case law). Failure of a medical user or caregiver to comply, with all aspects of the California law, will subject said individual to criminal liability even under California Law. Again, there is never, under any circumstances, exemption from criminal liability under Federal Law.
Helping Our Members While Helping the Cause:
If you have a genuine medical need for marijuana, for a $35 fee, if you so elect, Spectrum Paralegal Services (SPS): (a) will refer you to a licensed Medical Doctor who may, based upon his professional medical opinion, write you a prescription for medical marijuana and direct you to a Dispensary or Co-Op which has been established legally under California Law; moreover, (b) SPS will prepare your Application for a Medical Marijuana Card in the California County in which you reside. Please contact us if you are interested in this service.
This program also benefits the cause because SPS donates 15% of all proceeds to help keep our group going in its ardent support to change the law and in our providing of service to our members. So you can feel good about using our referral and form preparation service.
What We are Not:
The Greater San Diego Medical Marijuana Group is NOT a Dispensary. We are NOT a Co-op. Moreover, we will NOT operate as a "Caregiver" as defined pursuant to the Medical Marijuana Law. We will never grow, posses, transport, sell, dispense, offer, or otherwise be directly physically involved with the handling or distribution of marijuana.
Our Mission:
The Greater San Diego Medical Marijuana Group exists solely for the twofold mission of: (1) serving as a political advocacy organization to help in the effort to change the law so that medical marijuana will become fully legal, and (2) providing support and information to those persons who have a legitimate medical need for marijuana and who abide strictly within the bounds of California Law in these regards.
