Bike Spring Cleaning at Pedego Carlsbad

Spring Cleaning

Who: Bikers that would like to have a general understanding of bicycle maintenance.

We start out with a basic ABC Quick Check of your bicycle, to help identify some of the components of the bike and what to check before starting a bike ride. From there we will mount up and do a short bike ride along the Coastal Rail Trail (2 miles total) to become more familiar with our bikes and if there is need for any maintenance.

We return to Pedego Carlsbad to discuss maintenance and preventive measures to keep your bicycle in excellent working order. Discussion about air pressure, brake pad wear, and the importance of a yearly tune-up will be included. We will instruct on proper cleaning and lubrication with Pedego Carlsbad (http://pedegocarlsbad.com/) providing support and necessary space to give your bike a cleaning!

Walk + Bike Carlsbad (http://www.carlsbadca.gov/residents/walkbike/) is a partnership led by the City of Carlsbad, Circulate San Diego (http://www.circulatesd.org/) and the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (http://www.sdbikecoalition.org/) to promote walking and biking around Carlsbad, with a special focus on the downtown Village and surrounding areas. Join us and bring your friends and families along for the fun. The 12-month campaign is funded by a grant from the San Diego Association of Governments (http://www.sandag.org/) and includes events, outreach to schools, business promotions and other activities to get more people walking and biking instead of driving on short trips around town.
