Learn about CSAs and Meet Local Farmers

If you want to learn about CSAs or check out a dozen CSAs in one spot, please join me at the SD County Fair's one-day Enviro Fair. This is an opportunity to speak directly with the farmers who offer CSA programs. You can even sign up on the spot.

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program is a way for local farmers to provide seasonal items directly to their customers on a weekly basis for a set monthly fee. These items could be produce, fruit, eggs, and even meat from single and multi-farms. Different farms offer different CSA programs.

Meeting Time: 1:30pm
Location: San Diego County Fair Paddock Area
Where to Meet: As you face the cooking demonstration stage, meet to the right in the back of the audience. I will have a Meetup sign pinned to my backpack.
Cost: $14 - this gets you into the SD County Fair.

The Plan: We'll check out the various CSA programs and exhibitors. Around 2:15pm we will get seats to watch the 2:30pm CSA cooking demonstration by Sarah O'Toole, who also happens to be a member of this meetup group! After that we can check out the rest of the Enviro Fair or watch another cooking demo. I only plan to be at this event for 2-3 hours.

Other Details: The Enviro Fair runs from 10am to 5pm. The $14 fare is for the entire SD County Fair, which opens from 10am to 11pm. So, you can explore the rest of the Fair before or after our meetup.

More information on the Enviro Fair

Three options - 1) Parking at the Fair is $10. Or 2) Use the offsite parking locations and get shuttled in. Or 3) Pay $15 to take the Trolley, get shuttled in AND admission to the Fair.  I will actually be parking at the Torrey Pines High School and taking the shuttle.

** During the Fair, freeway exits and entries to parking lots do get backed up. Please give yourself enough time to park and get to the Fairgrounds on time to meet us at 1:30.

So, who's coming with me? :)

Please have my number with you in case you can't find us.

You can buy SD County Fair tickets from Albertsons for $12 instead of $14 at the gate. Call the store(s) to confirm they still have them.

Parking can be a zoo. If you park offsite, please give yourself at least 30 minutes to get a parking spot, wait for the shuttle and for the shuttle to get to the Fair. So please plan your time appropriately so that we will meet at the designated spot at 1:30. Please have my cell (858)[masked] with you in case you can't find me.

Yes, the Enviro Fair featuring the CSA farmers is only on this Saturday. The regular SD County Fair runs through July 4th.

Is that the only time that these CSA farmers will be there? I can't make it Sat. Thanks.
