While RSVPs are welcome and appreciated, they are not required for this particular group. Anyone is welcome to attend if they think they would benefit from meeting with this group, or if they think they can contribute to benefit those that attend. People show up who don't RSVP, so the RSVP count is not an accurate measure of attendance.

This meet-up will discuss "Relationships":
> A person with Aspergers can form meaningful and close relationships with parents, spouses, extended family and friends.

> The social skill and communication differences inherent in Asperger's can challenge some relationships.

> There are ways for both the person with Aspergers and loved ones to successfully work through the differences.

We will discuss important ways to help a relationship thrive (i.e. never give up hope).  Also, how to learn through research and talking, paying attention to a loved one's specific concerns and personality, figuring out what is important and trying to respect necessary boundaries, and how find common ground whenever possible and cherish it.

Discussion will be moderated, leading to coping and establishing strategies for improving your quality of life.

Please inform me of the next meet up place? Is it always at the Troy Library, or no? I need to know, so I can arrange a ride for that time ASAP Thank you for your time :)

I'll see if I can make it. I went to the last meetup, but I'm working now, so I'm not sure if I have work that day. I'll definitely do what I can to make it to the meetup. This is a particular topic that I'm really interested in and have a lot of problems with, so I really want to go.

This meet-up is 48 miles away from me, and gas just got more expensive, this meet up just in gas would cost me $40 round trip roughly.

So this is a mixture between discussing adolescent relationships and adult relationships with Aspergers? I personally am in a long distance relationship with another aspergers person in Poland and discussing this is in my interests, I have aspergers myself as well. I am considering going to this meetup, but I am primarily interested in discussing adult relationships in an open and candid forum. Mixing that up with adolescent discussion in a 2 hour meeting gives me the hunch that the dominant discussion will drive more towards the adolescent topic, which honestly I'm not driving into Troy from Ann Arbor for a 2 hour meeting focusing mostly on kids. I have no interest in having kids and nor does my partner, as opportunist as this may seem, I'm not going to this meeting unless if there is compelling reason for me to do so.

the books I have are geared towards adult relationships: How to keep Asperger-Neurotypical relationships going. Hopefully someone can bring solutions regarding child-peer situations and such, If my wife comes along she has had some experience with Asperger children at elementary school

I'll bring as many of my books on the subject as I can find laying around

I also found the following interesting links regarding tools to help Executive Functioning (last meetup) --

Is this meeting geared more for adolescent relationships (family, friends from school) or is this meeting more geared for adults with Aspergers (dating, marriage, sex)?
