Nearly Native: The Next Wave of Hybrid Mobile Apps with Josh Bechard

Atwood's Law says, "any application that can be written in JavaScript, will eventually be written in JavaScript".  With faster devices, wider implementaton of web standards, and the rise of many exciting new tools, "eventually" is fast approaching in the world of mobile app development.

Using Apache Cordova and the Ionic framework, we'll quickly build a beautiful, optimized mobile app with technologies you already know and love: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.  Along the way, we'll get to know a few of the native APIs that are available to us, including geolocation, notifications, and the accelerometer.

Josh is a JavaScript developer who moved to Michigan with his wife, Camaya, and daughter, Ava, in 2013.  He is passionate about web technologies, and serves as the Director of Web Development at DocNetwork, a local startup that creates health records software for summer camps, schools, and child care centers.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
