If interested in a Lead position in a startup culture with an established brand..... email me: etill@hearst.com

Are you passionate about building engaging, cutting-edge web applications for the leading automotive brand? Do you want to work in an agile scrum development environment with the brightest technology and product team in the sector? Do you like the idea of informal start-up culture with the pay, benefits, perks, and stability that come from working for a profitable division of a profitable, 126-year-old company? Car and Driver seeks senior developers to function as team mentors critical to successful project execution. Our developers function with a high degree of creativity, responsibility, and authority.

We’re building tools that change how car shoppers and car enthusiasts consume content based on our segment-exclusive monthly payment and vehicle performance APIs. You should have at least six years of experience building and maintaining large high-availability consumer digital properties. You should:

Be conversantly fluent in JavaScript
Have a deep understanding of front and back end technologies
Consider jQuery one of your closest friends
Continually obsess about shaving milliseconds off page render and page load times
Often see page render waterfall diagrams when you close your eyes
Be a social API integration ninja
Be able to implement responsively designed pages down to a single pixel (or at least have tried)
Have the agility to scrum and sprint and bravely traverse any backlog
And, exhibit grace and poise when navigating code repositories and continuous integration processes

As a team leader you will be responsible for:

Providing technical leadership through the complete lifecycle of a project
Collaborating with product owners, scrummasters, vendors, contractors, and teammates
Having Cirque du Soleil caliber project juggling skills, demonstrating awe-inspiring feats of time management across multiple concurrent projects
Being a process leader, helping redefine our Agile process and contributing to the team culture
Producing effective documentation and providing mentorship and leadership for junior team members
Demonstrating an innovative passion for web technology, understanding technology trends, scope and risk, and continuously re-evaluating our solutions
And, having or knowing someone who has seen or driven or read about a car
