Pizza, beer, and mingling
We'll start the evening with a lightning talk:
"Load balancing with nginx and Linux-HA"
Greg Lindahl (http://www.linkedin.com/in/greglindahl) - CTO, blekko
Then, on to our regular program.
"Software Offering in the Cloud"
Raja Srinivasan (http://www.linkedin.com/in/rasriniv) - Director Cloud Solutions, Riverbed Technology
"Service Redundancy and Traffic Balancing Using Anycast"
Sean Jain Ellis (http://www.linkedin.com/in/swellis) - Senior Network Engineer, DreamWorks Animation
"Layer 2 Load Balancing in a Layer 3 World"
Carl Stanley (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/carl-stanley/7/790/26) - Load Balancer Architect, Yahoo!
For our January event, I'd like to feature talks about load balancers. This could cover a lot of ground from basics to more advanced topics. Examples of the kind of things I'm looking for include how to set up and use HAProxy, LVS, Amazon ELB, hardware load balancers, or other software load balancers; how to set up load balancers in pairs or other configurations to avoid single points of failure; using your own software load balancer in cloud environments such as EC2; SSL termination; using load balancers in dynamic environments where nodes come and go; interactions between load balancers and DNS; issues dealing with sticky sessions; geographic loadbalancing; any other topics in this area.
If you can give a talk, please contact me, Chris Westin, through meetup.
