"Deploying Openstack In Real Life"
Paul Guth (http://www.linkedin.com/in/pguth) - VP Tech Ops, Cloudscaling

"Reference Architectures for Different Private Cloud Use Cases"
Kishore Yerrapragada (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kishore-yerrapragada/2/9b/6b) - Director, Cloud Architecture Group, Citrix Systems

For our April event, I'd like to hear about private clouds. I'm looking for speakers who have experience setting up and using a private cloud in order to gain elastic computing resources within an organization.

Here are some examples of the kinds of things I'd like to hear about: why did you feel the need to create your own cloud instead of using one of the public ones, such as EC2 or Rackspace Cloud? What software did you use (e.g. OpenStack, Eucalyptus, VMWare, ...), how did you choose it, and what is your experience with it? Does your cloud solution have special features or tools? Limitations? How dynamic is your capacity demand? Do you use some form of auto-scaling? Do you ever cloudburst into a public cloud in order to handle temporary capacity shortfalls? Any tricks to handling that? Can you talk about the costs of running your own cloud relative to using a public one? Do you have an internal economy whereby you charge your internal users for cloud usage? What kind(s) of application(s) do you deploy to this cloud, and how do they benefit from its elasticity?

I'm looking for two to four 20-25 minute talks. If you can give a talk, please contact me, Chris Westin, through meetup.

As well as the evening's theme talks, we can fit in 2-3 five minute lightning talks at the beginning of the evening; any topic that would be interesting to the #lspe audience is welcome. If you're interested in giving a lightning talk, contact me, Chris Westin, through meetup.
