The Hive is hosting a discussion/screening with a world-renowned Spanish artist and a San Francisco movie writer/producer. Both Daniel Canogar (artist) and Chris Edgett (movie writer/producer) have focused their artistic efforts towards the uses and effects of big data.
You will find more information of the agenda below:
6.00-7.00 pm: Registration and Networking (along with food and beverages)
7.00-7.45pm: Daniel Canogar- 45 minute presentation with Q&A session
7.45-8.30pm: Chris Edgette- 10 minute movie projection followed by a presentation with Q&A session. One of the film's lead actors, Connie Sechrist will be joining the Q&A.
Information about the Speakers:
Daniel Canogar's technological artworks attempt to provide a physical experience of intangible phenomenon: brain synapses, memory, the flow of information through the Internet and most recently the ever-growing presence of Big Data. His recent work includes Asalto New York, a video-projection on the façade of an abandoned factory in Brooklyn, NY; “Latidos”, a solo exhibition at Espacio Fundación Telefónica Buenos Aires; “Vórtices”, an exhibition exploring issues of water and sustainability at the Fundación Canal Isabel II in Madrid; Synaptic Passage, an installation commissioned for the exhibition "Brain: The Inside Story" at the American Museum

Chris Edgette has recently written and produced I’s, an independent narrative feature film shot in San Francisco and Seattle. The movie explores a time in human history when technological growth and data driven innovation will be so rapid and impact the world so deeply that human life will be transformed.
