As powerful and flexible as Hadoop is, jobs still sometimes fail or thrash unpredictably. Pepperdata co-founder and CEO Sean Suchter, one of the first commercial users of Hadoop in the early days at Yahoo, will give real-world examples of Hadoop meltdowns complete with metrics and what we can learn from them. He'll also show how to automatically increase Hadoop cluster throughput through fine-grained job hardware usage visibility.
Meet Sean Suchter:
Sean was the founding General Manager of Microsoft's Silicon Valley Search Technology Center, where he led the integration of Facebook and Twitter content into Bing search. Prior to Microsoft, Sean managed the Yahoo! Search Technology team. (Fun fact: Yahoo! web search was the first production user of Hadoop in the world.) Sean joined Yahoo! through the acquisition of Inktomi, where he managed the core search engine runtime team. Sean holds a B.S. in Engineering and Applied Science from Caltech.
